Bastrop Community
Chorus rehearses on Thursday nights. The choir is open
for new members until the end of January. Anyone
interested in auditioning need only come by the
Lumberyard on Thursday nights at 7:30.
The chorus will perform the Faure requiem March 27 and 28 at
Bastrop First Methodist Church, accompanied by the
Bastrop Community Orchestra and the beautiful pipe organ
in the Methodist Church sanctuary.

Christmas Recital
held December 18
Friday night, December 18, the Lumberyard
music hall hosted the Christmas Recital of the
Bastrop Academy of Music.
The program featured performers young and
not so young, singing and playing Christmas
favorites and other pieces brought to their
thrilling levels of performance through rehearsals and
the training of the instruction of the Bastrop Academy of Music
staff. Many favorite tunes were
presented, and snacks and drinks were
provided.
The Lumberyard music
hall, located at 1109 Main Street in
Bastrop, is also the home of Bastrop Academy of
Music.
Bastrop
Community Chorus debuted December 4

The
new Bastrop Community Chorus of more than 30 voices, under the direction of
Jeff Brister, performed December 4 and 5 at the Lumberyard
Music Hall, 1109 Main St., Bastrop. The
program included traditional Christmas music in special arrangements as well
as selections from Handel's Messiah. The audience had the
opportunity for some sing-along.
Instrumental accompaniment was performed by Bastrop
Community Orchestra and Bastrop High School students. Hot wassail and home-baked goods
were offered for refreshment.
The chorus's next
performance is scheduled for February 2010.
